1st Boston Spa Beaver Scouts

Newsletter - June 2006

It's hard to believe that we have only a few weeks to the end of term, so just a quick update on what we have planned for the rest of the summer.

For the next two weeks ie 20/06/06 & 27/06/06 we will again be meeting on St Mary's C of E playing field, this week for 'Keep Fit with Karl' and for football skills the following week, as well as making use of the adventure play equipment & there is a possibility we may be able to do some archery too.

Please can you therefore drop off at & pick up from the school playing field at the normal time & please ensure the boys have sufficient sun protection & a drink if it's hot. It is so nice to be able to get the boys outside for colony meetings so we appreciate your co-operation with this. In the event of it pouring down we will of course be in the Scout Hall instead.

For the remaining three weeks we will revert back to using the hall & our plans are:

04/07/06 American Independence Day

11/07/06 Sponsored Silence in aid of Aiming High

18/07/06 Water Fun - bring a towel!

Additional details for these three meetings will be issued in due course & please remember to check your e-mails on a Monday as any amendments to venues, any additional items you may need to bring along etc will be mailed to you by Monday morning at the latest.

Other points we need to let you know about are as follows:

1) We plan to invest our newer beavers before the end of term. If this involves your son we will send you details nearer the time.

2) The 1st Boston Spa Scout Group AGM is being held on Thursday 29 June 2006 at 7.30pm in the Scout Hall. Parents are very welcome to attend this meeting & it is an opportunity to find out a bit more about the workings of the group & its various sections, & to air your views. It will be followed by cheese & wine at approximately 8.30pm.

3) Most people have now responded re attendance at camp, so we can provide District with approximate figures. If your son is attending can you please make the payment of £5 ASAP if you have not already done so. Further details will be issued in due course.

4) One further date for your diary is Sunday 24 September 2006 when Wetherby District will be holding a fun day at Wyke to celebrate 20 years of Beaver Scouting, again details to follow.

5) Fees are now due for the summer term. If you have not already done so could you please make payment in cash (in a named envelope), or by cheque payable to '1st Boston Spa Scout Group' or in instalments any time between now & 18/07/06.

And last but not least a huge well done to the boys for their efforts at the Sports Day. Not only did we get quite a few individual results we also came 3rd overall which we were very pleased with.

Why not check out our web site www.1stbostonspa.org. Here you will find copies of our newsletters, dates of forthcoming events & soon to be posted some sports day photos. Although we have not utilised this facility a great deal since its launch, going forward we intend to keep it updated to give people an insight into what goes on in our Beaver colony.

Yours in Scouting

Sue,Tracy & Karl
